After hearing that the Clicks in Menlyn has a pretty awesome NYX counter/display, I decided to brave the Mall-I-Hate-The-Most and go have a look. Of course I left with more than just a few NYX products…as always…

NYX Eyeshadow
NYX eyeshadow singles in Taupe and White – I was quite disappointed when I got to Clicks in Menlyn and found the NYX counter seriously understocked. This obviously means it’s a popular brand but not great when half of the products aren’t on the shelves. Still, I had fun swatching the eye shadows and bought these two. I love a good ‘nude’ eye shadow that blends easily into my skin without being too shimmery or too matte. “Taupe” is the perfect colour for me and I picked up the “White” simply because it is a great highlighter for my brow bone. The NYX eye shadows have a wonderfully velvety formula which makes blending them a dream. Hopefully they will have more stock the next time I pop in so I can try more of their products as it seems like a really great brand.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
Rimmel Stay Matte powder – When I saw Tanya Burr using this powder in more than one of her tutorials, I knew I had to try it. I’ve only been using it for a few days now but I’ve been rather impressed. It applies like a dream when used with a big, fluffy brush and keeps my skin looking matte (but not dull or cakey) for up to 4 hours which is more than any other powder has ever done for me.

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara

Maybelline Falsies mascara – Another Tanya Burr-recommended product. I’ve never been a big fan of Maybelline mascaras but I’ve been quite chuffed with this one. It adds great lift to my lashes making me look wide-awake (which is something I’ve needed over the last week). My eyes are also very sensitive and go red and itchy quite easily but I haven’t had any issues with that with this mascara, yet. It also doesn’t clump or flake which is always a bonus, right?

Clicks Haul
John Frieda Anytime Volume Refresher – I bought this kind of by accident as I thought it was dry shampoo, silly me! I just read “refresher” and popped it into my basket. This isn’t as effective as Batiste dry shampoo at reducing oily roots but it does have a bit of mattifying power. It does however give great volume when sprayed onto the roots and also texturises the hair a little. It was also chosen as one of Woman & Home’s top beauty products of 2013 and I can completely understand why.

Ecotools make-up brushes
EcoTools – I’ve seen these brushes on a few UK Beauty blogs and when I spotted them I immediately grabbed a few. I think these brushes are absolutely fantastic. I bought the eye kit which includes 5 travel size brushed and the powder brush. These brushes are so lovely to use, they are very well-priced and the fact they are made with humane and sustainable materials is just the cherry on top.

Have you tried any of these products? If so, what did you think?
