The smokey eye is the first make-up look I started playing with at the age of 14 and I haven’t stopped experimenting with it. It is my go-to look for an evening out and I have many different versions. This one is my favourite because it is so incredibly easy and simple. It’s done with only a gel eyeliner pencil and takes all of 3 minutes from start to finish. I simply transformed my day look in this tutorial which means I already had foundation and a bit of neutral eye shadow on. What I also love about this way of doing a smokey eye is that you can use a little bit of eyeliner for a more subtle smokey eye or you can build it up to create a dramatic eye. Paired with a pop of blush and a nude lip you’ll have a chic evening look in no time.

Easy smokey eye tutorial

  1. Start by applying your foundation, filling in your brows and applying eyelid primer or a neutral shade all over your lid.
  2. Apply kohl pencil or gel eyeliner pencil to your lash line. Work it into your lashes to make them appear fuller.
  3. With a blending brush, start blending the eyeliner upwards.
  4. Blend the eyeliner into your crease, smoking it out as you do so.
  5. Apply eyeliner to your water and tight lines.
  6. Using your blending brush, apply the last bit of colour on the brush under your eye, blending it well.
  7. Apply two coats of mascara to complete the smokey look.
