May was an incredibly fun month, beauty-wise. I bought a lot of amazing products and saw an incredible difference in my skin. I know that during the colder months my combination skin becomes better looking but I think the products I’ve used have made such an amazing difference in my skin texture and over-all quality. I also love the colder months because I can get away with wearing more dramatic make-up. During summer winged liner, red lips, etc. just feel a bit too heavy but during Autumn and Winter I love playing around. And so, many of my May favourites will reflect all of that. Here we go:

Clarins Multi Active night cream

Clarins Multi Active Night Cream: I accredit most of the changes to my skin to this product. I have always been a huge fan of Clarins and have used a few of their products (their hydra-matte lotion made it into my April favourites) but I think this might be my all-time favourite Clarins product. It’s a beautifully light but hydrating moisturiser which is targeted towards 30-somethings. Now, I’m not in my 30’s yet but I still love what it promised. It helps to “boost cellular  renewal cycle during the night” and you wake up to “smooth, luminous, toned and younger-looking skin.” Yup, that I did. My skin looks more plump and nourished and man does this stuff smell good. The scent isn’t overpowering at all, rather like taking a walk through a Spring garden (I love that Clarins’ products all have a botanical, natural scent) and it feels SO good to apply it as the last step of my skincare routine at night. Just love this stuff.

Nivea In-Shower Moisturiser

Nivea In-Shower Moisturiser: I really hate applying body lotion/moisturiser. I hate the way it feels on my skin and I think it takes too long. The only product I apply to my body is the Nivea Q10 body oil from my April favourites. I absolutely fell in love with this in-shower moisturiser when I first purchased it back in March and have used it ever since. I recently switched to the Dry Skin formula as my skin needs a bit more hydration during winter and I’ve been thoroughly impressed. It doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy at all and the scent is neutral so it doesn’t interfere with your perfume.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Personne ne Rouge

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipstick in Personne ne Rouge: Every girl needs a good, classic red lipstick in her make-up collection and this might just be the one for me. The formula is liquid on application and dries to a beautiful, velvetty matte. The colour is striking and rich-looking and I just love wearing it. You can read more about this in my Favourite red nail and lip combo post.

Sigma F80 brush

Sigma F80 Kabuki brush: So, I’m a little late on this bandwagon but no matter. At least I’m here now. Most of the beauty bloggers/vloggers I follow have raved about this brush and for damn good reason. It is without-a-doubt the best foundation brush I have ever used. It perfectly buffs my foundation into my skin to give an air-brushed look and I couldn’t ask for anything more. A must-have, in my opinion.

L'Oreal True Match foundation

L’oreal True Match Foundation: This has been my go-to foundation this month. I love that it’s light and easy to apply (especially with the f80) and that it still offers medium-full coverage. It’s very buildable but doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and glides over my pores and blemishes to create a beautiful even complexion. I’m always so chuffed when a drugstore foundation is THIS good.

Revlon Skin Lights

Revlon Skin lights in Bare light: I first saw this in an All Dolled Up video and boy, can those girls sell me anything. I bought this because I really like the idea of a liquid highlighter and picked it up during the Woolworths Beauty Sale. I have loved using it since. It’s a very liquidy formula and applies like a dream. I just pat it onto my cheekbone and then kind of blend it in with my fingers. It gives a beautiful sheen without being shimmery or glittery, exactly what I want from my highlighters.

Rimmel Salon pro Rock 'n Roll

Rimmel Salon Pro (by Kate Moss) nail polish in Rock ‘n Roll: Another classic product that every girl needs. A good red nail polish is a must and this one is such a goody. I love that the colour is rich and vibrant but most importantly I love that it lasts for absolute ages. I started seeing feint chipping right at the tippy-tips of my nails by day 4 (when worn with a base and top coat) and for me, that is forever. I can’t wait to try the other colours in this range.

May Favourites 2014

And that’s it for my May favourites. What have you been loving this month? Is there anything you think I should try in June?

I have been wondering about foundation brushes since I had my make-up done professionally a few weeks ago. Where did you buy the Kabuki brush?

Clea, I bought it from Turquoise Studio which is the distributor in SA. 🙂

I have the L’Oréal True match foundation but I think in the older packaging.
    Love it!
Now I need to try the Revlon skin lights!
Ooh and I already have The Sigma Kabuki set on my wishlist!
